After the sell out success of this year's inaugural Obey the Riff Festival, 2020 will see the day/night event return bigger and better to Panhead Brewery in Upper Hutt.
Doubling the number of bands from last year, including 3 internationals, the day promises to be the premier heavy riff festival in New Zealand.
Panhead Brewery is located at 27 Blenheim St, Maidstone, Upper Hutt.
Doors open at 12pm with the first band at 1pm. Bands finish at 10pm.
If the weather is looking good wear sunblock and a hat. You can bring a reusable drink bottle but it will need to be emptied before entering. There will be water stations around the venue and more shaded areas than in 2019.
Please don't bring glass or backpacks.
Your best option is to travel via train on the Hutt Valley line to Upper Hutt station.
Trains depart from Wellington station at 12.05pm, 12.35pm and a short 10 minute walk will get you to Panhead Brewery in time for the first band at 1pm.
For bus or other train line information see https://www.metlink.org.nz/
If you bought a bus/ticket combo keep an eye out for an email from
If you are the sober driver there is limited parking in the Panhead/Brewtown complex or on the street.
ONCE YOU GET THERE
Have a print out of your ticket or a copy of it on your phone ready to be scanned.
You'll find the merch table near the venue entrance.
FOOD AND DRINK
The kitchen in the Panhead Tasting Room will be serving a reduced menu. There will also be food trucks on site. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available from the inside and outside bars. EFTPOS will be accepted.
There will be an ambulance on site so if you or someone else is feeling unwell please ask for help from a Panhead staff member or security. Additionally, staff and security are there to make sure everyone has a good time so please make them aware if anyone is being a dickhead.
We want everyone to get home safe - please no stage diving or crowd surfing - concrete is hard.
The last band will finish at 10.00pm and give you enough time to get to the 10.30pm train.
Alternately feel free to stay until 10.30pm before you catch the 11pm train.
Please be respectful of Panhead's neighbours when leaving. This is an event that we would like to have again in the future and need the communities ongoing support.
Cheers, and Obey the Riff!
